Priced at just $499 plus shipping, this is the best value around! I rarely sell guitars that are priced under the $1,000 level because I just don't like the compromises that virtually all of them make in design and quality. So here is one big fat exception to the rule that you can't find real quality at a budget price.
The Luna Apollo is an archtop single cutaway true set-neck electric guitar. The body and neck are made of solid mahogany, and the fingerboard is made from rich dark ebony. The body has a sleek contour on the back for comfort. This particular example is especially comfortable because the overall weight is a mere 7.7 pounds.
Just like the Gibson Les Paul, this guitar has a 23.75 inch scale length, and two humbuckers with a 3 way toggle on the upper bout. Controls are master volume and master tone. The neck has an amazingly comfortable back profile, which features a soft "V" contour by the nut which gradually tapers to a medium C profile in the high register, for optimum comfort at every fret position. The frets are beefy and tall enough for easy bending, and they are beautifully dressed and leveled. The string nut is smooth graphite.
The humbuckers are licensed EMG Select designs, and they sound great. Smooth and creamy when played clean, with plenty of rich growl when overdriven. It is impossible to get a bad sound out of this guitar, I was amazed to see that the cavities are all treated with shielding compound, which keeps this guitar free of unwanted noise. Quality everywhere.
The hardware is beautiful and classy matte nickel, and includes real Grover Rotomatics (the same tuners used on the Les Paul Custom), looking great in the brushed nickel. The fretboard has cool moon phase inlays in mother of pearl, and the headstock logo inlay is especially beautiful.
The edge below the top has received the natural masked binding treatment that one generally finds on expensive PRS models. A strip of mahogany which the same the size as binding is masked off during the finishing process, and then the making is removed when the clear coat layer goes on, leaving the natural mahogany showing as though the body were "bound" with a mahogany inlay. Just one of the many high end features that surprisingly is included on this cool and affordable guitar.
The manufacturer's suggested retail price for this model is $899, it usually discounts at retail to about $599, and that price does not include a case or gig bag. However, my price of only $499 includes the patented "Coffin Case" which is a deeply padded hardshell case that is highly protective, light and easy to carry, and which nicely compliments the exotic good looks of the Luna Apollo.
I received 5 of these guitars brand new from a Luna dealer as part of a larger trade, but this is the only one that I will have available for sale. I own many guitars that cost much more, but my own Luna is getting played constantly, because its excellent feel, its superior tone, and its handsome appearance make it truly comparable to guitars costing several times as much.
