Welcome To The Home of The Voodoo Lounge Telecaster!

Over the years, I have custom built and hot-rodded just about every kind of guitar on the planet, but the one design that has been my very most popular is the Pat's Guitars "Voodoo" line of Telecasters. What's a "Voodoo" Tele?
Well, for me it all begins with the special look and sound of the the legendary Tele owned by Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones -which he named Micawber- that features an old Gibson "PAF" humbucker in the neck position. There is something absolutely right about the ageless simple Tele design, enhanced by a great old school humbucker at the neck. It works for rock, blues, jazz, and country.

My two most common and most popular variations are the "Voodoo Lounge" and "Triple Voodoo" Telecasters. For these models, I handpick a Fender American Deluxe Telecaster (usually in Transparent Butterscotch Blonde for that '52 appearance), completely disassemble it, and then reconfigure the body with new routing, full nickel print shielding, and star grounding. I add a pair of high end Seymour Duncan pickups, completely upgraded control electronics, as well as a Custom pickguard, and vintage style case. Hand-picked and completely reconfigured with the best quality ingredients, the Voodoo Lounge Telecaster is a pure joy to hear and to play. For those who desire a wider tonal landscape, I developed the "Triple Voodoo" Telecaster. There have been other three pickup Telecasters over the years, most notably the "Brent Mason" layout, which features a mini-humbucker at the neck and a "Hot Stack" middle pickup. The Mason layout places three knobs on the control plate, with the middle knob blending the middle pickup in and out, with a push-pull effect added. I never liked how crowded that control plate was, or the clumsiness and limitations of the control circuit. And I was never crazy about the pickups. So, after literally years of constant experimentation, I came up with a better design.
My Triple Voodoo uses a full-sized neck '59 humbucker, and a Vintage Rails Strat pickup in the middle, which adds a distinct Vintage style Strat tone to the available possibilities. Switching of the three pickups is done with a 5-Way Switch, like a Strat, for the 5 basic combinations. I do not add a middle knob, instead I install a concentric blender knob under the tone knob. My blender is not simply a variable on-off for the middle. In my much more versatile and user-friendly circuit, the blender will add as much or as little as you would like of the sound of whatever pickup is not already already selected on the switch. So if you have selected neck or neck plus middle, but want to add a little bit of the sharper tone of your lead pickup, the blender will bring it in. Conversely, if you have selected the brige or bridge + middle, you can warm up the sound by bringing in the creamy tone of the neck. Seven combinations, with completely variable blending of thethree pickups.
You get the fat neck tone of a Les Paul, the bell-like chime of a Strat, and the kicking twangy lead of a Tele, and you can blend all three tones in an endless number or tasty ways, or just enjoy them on their own. A great instrument for those who want a high degree of versatility in a single guitar, and for those who like to explore subtle changes in pickup combinations in order to dial just the right sound you hear in your head. Yet still with simple, clean controls, and the simple, clean appearance of an early Telecaster. To take a detailed tour of the Triple Voodoo Telecaster, click on the image below.

But it doesn't stop there. I have built "Supreme" Voodoo Telecasters using Fender Custom Shop elements. I have build "Voodoo Relic" Telecasters using the Fender Custom Shop '51 Nocaster Relic model. I also build the Voodoo model in an endless number of variations: contoured bodies, finishes of in every color, different pickup layouts (including P90 variations), and more. I have used Brazilian rosewood tops and necks, flamed and birdseye maple, ziricote, and many other exotic and precious tonewoods. I have built Voodoo Teles configured especially for heavy metal, and others for delicate jazz. At the bottom of this page you'll see a selection of photographs that represent some of the endless range of possibilities for the classic Telecaster model with the Pat's guitars "Voodoo" touch.
And, you know what? I like making only the best "regular" Teles with a pair of single coil pickups with Pat's "Voodoo" quality too....
